Working with other institutes

The RTPI is working with the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building. With a combined membership of over 175,000 skilled professionals, the Institutes are lobbying government on six priorities for the built environment:

  • Access to skills
  • Common standards
  • Research excellence
  • Infrastructure investment
  • Devolution commitment
  • Community development

The institutes have written to the new Minister for Trade, the Rt. Hon. George Hollingbery MP to meet with him. This follows a close working relationship with the former minister, including a roundtable with the institute's presidents to discuss how the built environment professions are an important export for the UK.

In a jointly issued statement in July 2017, the four institutes raised skills and standards as Brexit priorites.
