Transport Planning Network

The RTPI-TPS Transport Planning Network (TPN) is a member-driven forum for transport planners and those with an interest in transport issues. It is run jointly between the RTPI and the Transport Planning Society.

TPN membership offers a great range of benefits and opportunities, including:

  • Virtual and face-to-face networking opportunities
  • Provision of support and encouragement in your professional activities

Current network management

 

The Network Chair is Hannah Budnitz, and the Vice Chair is Alan Wenban-Smith.

Hannah is a transport planner with over a dozen years experience. She worked as a consultant at Arup, then as a local government officer at Reading Borough Council before deciding to go freelance to pursue her passion for the discipline of transport planning and its potential to shape neighbourhoods and improve quality of life.

Alan has worked for as a local authority planner for 25 years, latterly for Birmingham where he was responsible for planning and transport policy. He led the city's Unitary Development Plan and Integrated Transport Strategy, and also joint work on planning and transport in the West Midlands at conurbation and regional levels. Since 1996 he has worked as a consultant all over the UK, at the interface between spatial, transport, economic development and housing policy. He has been a Visiting Professor at both Newcastle and Birmingham City universities, and has been on the Board of the Transport Planning Society both by election and as the RTPI representative.
