Chairs Message: March 2021

Despite out continuing state of lockdown RTPI London has been busy over the past month with our online events programme.

Our joint Mayoral Hustings with the NLA and 19 other built environment groups, representing over 100,000 colleagues from across the capital concluded that good planning and community engagement will be vital to the success of our next Mayor, as outlined up front by our president Wei Yang who was a panellist.

As we begin to think about life and planning after the Pandemic, we are pleased to launch on Friday 19th, our Global Cities Exchange series with a discussion about what we can learn from the pandemic and how different cities are responding: Book onto the webinar here.  The series will continue in April with a focus on how planners around the world are using new technology.

We will also be launching very shortly the first RTPI London Awards for Planning Excellence (watch this space), events around Neurodiversity and Politicians in Planning, and are starting to plan for our annual summit and presidents visit later in the year.

Our Young Planners Committee have been busy, with the latest edition of the excellent Young Planners Guide available in the podcast link below.

Our back catalogue of past events is also building – you can see the recent events on Future London Planner (also available as a podcast) and Resilience.

If you have any ideas for RTPI London, including articles for our blog, or events then please get in touch.
