Town Centre Regeneration NW

Tuesday, 17 September 2019 at 9:30AM - 4:30PM
Number One Riverside, Rochdale OL16 1XU, UK
RTPI North West

The traditional retail hierarchy model dependent on national chains to fill up space on the high street does not work anymore. Indeed many of these familiar brands have since disappeared and those that remain are consolidating their store portfolios. The changing face of retailing, therefore, poses a fundamental question about the future of the places where we live, work and socialise.

Speakers will discuss the challenges they have faced; discuss the interventions they have used to restore vibrancy and vitality to retail centres; and the ambitious strategies they are using to drive regeneration and renewal of town centres.

A walking tour of Rochdale town centre will also be included in the programme.
