Members are invited to the RTPI East of England Gala Dinner and Regional Awards for Planning Excellence Presentation Evening

Come and help us celebrate our Awards for Planning Excellence as well as meet up with friends and colleagues.

The evening will commence with a Drinks reception and will be followed by a sumptuous 3-course dinner

During the evening, the winning entry onto the 2019 RTPI East of England Awards for Planning Excellence will be announced.

After Dinner Speaker: Chris Shepley

Chris Shepley CBE BA Dip TP MRTPI began his career in Local Government – firstly in Manchester then at the Greater Manchester Council (where he became Deputy County Planning Officer). He moved to Plymouth as City Planning Officer and later Director of Development. He joined the Civil Service as Chief Planning Inspector, from 1994-2002 and then set up his own private planning consultancy. He has since worked for a variety of clients in the public and private sectors and has also Chaired Examinations in Public into Structure and Regional Plans, for example in the North West and in London; he also Chaired an Examination into the Island Plan in Jersey.

He was President of the RTPI in 1989, and was Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester (1990-94) and now has a similar role at the University of Westminster. He has an Honorary B Sc from the University of the West of England. He received a CBE in 2002.

He has written and lectured widely at home and abroad and until recently had a regular column in “The Planner”. He is, or has been, a member of many planning organisations including the TCPA Policy Council and the European Council of Town Planners and was a member of the Raynsford Review Group looking at the future of the planning system.
