SCYPN- Housing Question Time

Thursday, 03 October 2019 at 5:30PM - 8:00PM
Savills, 2 Charlotte Pl, Southampton SO14 0TB
RTPI South East

The topic of the event centres around how those involved in the built environment will be able to deliver the Government's target of 300,000 homes by the mid-2020's, and how we as a collective can identify and overcome the likely hurdles in this public policy agenda. Each speaker will begin with a 5 minute presentation on 'how are we going to deliver 300,000 homes by mid-2020's'. The 1 hour 30 minutes question time will be divided into the following themes:

  • Planning for the right homes, for the right people
  • Ensuring an adequate supply/release/allocation of land
  • Barriers in the development management process
  • How to ensure expedient delivery of homes post-consent
  • Planning for the right homes, for the right people

This should cover the basis of housing mix, policy, development management and delivery - all the key stages of the planning system in delivering the Government's targets. Gavin Parker, our host, will then provide closing remarks.

The panel will comprise:

  • Andrew Whittaker (HBF)
  • Councillor Sean Woodward (Leader of Fareham Borough Council)
  • Pete Errington (representative of Planning Policy - Eastleigh Borough Council)
  • Gavin Parker (University of Reading/Host)
  • Sarah Beuden (Savills)

The South Coast Young Planners Network are pleased to offer a this format of event for young planners free of charge.
