Monday, 18 November 2019 at 9:30AM
Womble Bond Dickinson, St Anns Wharf, 112 Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3DX
The day will be spent in looking at issues considered at public inquiry and will give those called to give evidence first-hand experience of preparation and cross examination.
Delegates can volunteer to act as experts in a mock public inquiry setting and will be sent documentation beforehand so they can prepare before the day. They will be cross-examined by barristers in a mock S.78 appeal in an inquiry setting and the experience seeks to mirror an inquiry as closely as possible. To that end, the barristers will test your evidence thoroughly and you will be expected to give evidence in a robust and professional manner. Each witness will be subjected to approximately 10 minutes of cross-examination. The better prepared you are – the more you will benefit from the exercise!
If you would like to volunteer for the mock inquiry session, please get in touch on booking.
The day will be relevant to those giving evidence from a planning, highways, or architecture/landscape perspective.
