Course Aim

Conserving and enhancing the historic environment is an integral element of sustainable development. Local heritage and archaeology can affect project programmes and have an impact on the design of a development. This masterclass will provides an overview of relevant legislation and practical advice to achieve balance and deliver successful projects which include heritage assets or archaeology.

Through a combination of expert trainer input, discussion and group work, you will:

  • Apply the legislation and policy governing the historic environment in England, including Conservation Areas
  • Gain insight into what designated and undesignated heritage assets are, the setting of heritage assets and how they are assessed
  • Understand analysis techniques including Heritage Statements and Heritage Impact Assessments
