Urban Design and Masterplanning for Planners - The Basics

RTPI SW CPD Day which will include at least 2 Designed themed workshops

Summary
This event, held in conjunction with Creating Excellence/The Design Network, will explore both policies and processes aimed at promoting excellence in design quality and place making. TLogohe NPPF now places greater emphasis on delivering design quality through the planning system. Design NetworkDrawing on the understanding gained through a programme of inquiry with local authority members and officers working towards improving design outcomes, the seminar will examine the opportunities for and obstacles to achieving positive planning. Specifically, the event will explore best practice in embedding good design in planning policy and decision making.  Afternoon workshops will examine: approaches to ensuring that design is addressed throughout the planning process; the use of design tools and techniques; methods for engaging communities and elected members in design issues; and the knowledge and skills needed to negotiate over elements of design.
