What makes Sheffield unique? What is your favourite space or place in this dynamic city? How could planning shape the city in the future?
Join RTPI Yorkshire Young Planners and Sheffield University to discuss your favourite places in this exciting city.
Students as well as young professionals are encouraged to attend our evening event.
Attendees will be asked to attach a tag to their favourite place on an aerial photograph of Sheffield City Centre, summarising the reasons for their choice on the tag.
A discussion will then be co-ordinated by urban design experts, including Rebecca Powell, a senior transport planner based at Arup Sheffield, on what the findings tell us about the factors which make a good place.
Rebecca is a highly experienced transport planner and a qualified project manager, and has experience working in the public and private sector (in the UK and internationally). Her areas of interest include multi-modal transport systems, the future of transport/cities and public realm. Currently, she leads a wide range of planning projects, including the Sheffield City Region Transport Strategy.
We will also be joined by Jamie Wilde, Jamie is a Yorkshire Design Review Manager and Urbanist from Integreat Plus and a multi-award winning urbanist and planner, working in Sheffield.
The event will start at 5pm, with the opportunity for informal networking and refreshments, and the discussion starting from 6pm.
It is anticipated that the discussion will last until 7:30-8pm and there will be the opportunity for informal networking after the event.
An article will be produced after the event on the findings.
This forms the second in a series of events under the heading ‘What Makes a Good Place?’, the first on which was carried out in Leeds and produced some really interesting findings.
Join us, and share your views on the factors which make a good place.
