The SYPN and RTPI West of Scotland Chapter are pleased to announce our annual legal update will be hosted by Burness Paull LLP. Craig Whelton will provide an update on Scottish planning law, including a review of the recent Supreme Court decision on developer contributions, in which Burness Paull acted for the successful party.

As a partner in the planning division of Burness Paull, Craig has extensive experience advising in planning matters across the UK. Craig is dual qualified in Scottish and English & Welsh Law, having previously practised in England.
Craig advises developers, planning authorities and other affected parties on a wide range of local, major and national developments including retail, mixed use and residential schemes. He also has extensive experience in compulsory purchase, acting for both the promoters of schemes as well as landowners and affected parties.
He regularly appears as an advocate in planning and compulsory purchase inquiries and hearings, and in planning judicial challenges.
