This seminar and study tour will look at the almost complete works for the flood protection scheme for Skipton, which won the RTPI Yorkshire Award for Planning Excellence in 2016. A comparison with an earlier flood protection scheme for Pickering will be made and issues of sustainable drainage and flood risk assessment will be discussed. There will be two study tours: one in Skipton town centre (walking) and one by coach to view works just outside the town centre.
