Whilst recent years have seen a nationwide reduction in the town centre vacancy rate
and stronger comparison goods expenditure growth, many town centres in the region remain relatively fragile and susceptible to competition. Our speakers will consider the latest town centre trends, including the continued growth of convenience goods discounters, the growing importance of the food and drink sector, and the loss of key anchors from the High Street. The event will consider the opportunities which exist and the interventions which may help secure the future vitality and viability of our town centres. And will provide an overview of recent case law and appeal precedent, which continues to clarify how national retail and town centre planning policy should be applied in practice.
