Planning Pathways: a new generation of routes through planning

Thursday, 07 December 2017 at 2:00PM - 5:00PM
Tramshed, Clare Rd, Cardiff CF11 6QP, UK

This year’s RTPI Cymru Annual Review celebrates the diverse array of ‘pathways’ that a planner can pursue as a career, showcased at our event by a new generation of planners originating in Wales who are leading new ways of working.

The event features case studies from a new generation of planners striving towards an evolution in spatial planning through practice - including the digital evolution of the planning system, and the Welsh Language as a material consideration.

The only commonality between each of our presenters’ respective ‘planning pathways’ is their University education - they have all graduated from the Cardiff School of Geography and Planning within the last 10 years.

Case studies will be followed by a panel discussion and the opportunity for members of the audience to step onto our ‘Planners Soapbox’ to give their views.

This free event also includes a look back over the year that was in planning in Wales, and the hand-over of the RTPI Cymru Chair from 2017 to 2018.

Join us at Tramshed in Central Cardiff - the entertainment venue of historic significance - commended in the Wales Planning Awards 2016 and a finalist in the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence 2017.

Who should attend ‘Planning Pathways’?

  • Managers - to find out about emerging working practices in planning and how these could transfer to your staff / organisation.
  • Young planners - to explore the diverse range of career options following graduation.
  • Everyone - to be inspired and enthused!
