Event Description
Hosted by Dorset Young Planners, Join Albion Stone for a morning tour of their underground stone mine and historic surface workings on Portland.
Explore where and how Portland Stone is extracted and processed and gain an appreciation of planning considerations and low carbon benefits of using natural stone.
Please note that this event has limited numbers. Early booking is advised.

Programme
Participants will need to arrive for 10am as the tour will start at 10:15am.
10am – Arrive and brief introduction to tour
10.15am – Group 1 goes to mine and Group 2 stays for presentations / tour of older surface workings
11.15am – Groups swap over
12.15 – Opportunity for any final questions
12.30 – Lunch and networking
13.30 – Depart

Accessibility
- Due to the location and the topography, this is not an accessible event. The mine is flat, but only suitable for able bodied persons. There is no lift.
- Albion Stone will transport people across to the Mine from the venue.
