This webinar is brought to you by the RTPI West Midlands as part of the RTPI Online event series.
Contextual safeguarding is an approach to understanding, and responding to, young people’s experiences of significant harm beyond their families. It seeks to identify and respond to harm and abuse to young people outside their home and recognises the potential influence relationships and the wider environment can have in informing the extent to which young people may encounter protection or abuse.
This seminar will explore how approaches in relation to urban planning can make environments safer for children and young people. It will explore how risks in neighbourhoods can be “designed out” and the role of the neighbourhood within the process of assessment and intervention.
