Hannah Fawdon: Bursary profile

What is the Future Planners Bursary

The Future Planners Bursary was launched in 2015 to increase the pipeline of planners graduating, and subsequently working, in the UK and Ireland.

I put the bursary towards the funding of my Urban Planning course - I was so grateful for the support from the RTPI. I was able to talk about the bursary in job interviews, which showed my ambition and determination to pursue this career.

How does it work

Universities with accredited postgraduate planning programmes offered up to two bursaries to award to high quality applicants who met the eligibility criteria.

Who was awarded a bursary

Hannah Fawdon was awarded the Bursary from Heriot-Watt University after completing a graded essay. She is studying on the MSc in Urban and Regional Planning.

Hannah Fawdon V2Why did you choose to study planning

Hannah was attracted to Town Planning to compliment studies already undertaken in Geography. She believes it will be a rewarding career with involvement in shaping our built environment by making it more efficient and sustainable.

What will you be doing after graduation

Hannah intends to become a Chartered Town Planner after completion of her course and is taking the first step in that process having secured a job as a graduate planner with EDF Energy.
