RTPI attends world's largest property exhibition

12 March 2019

President of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Ian Tant and Chief Executive Victoria Hills will be attending MIPIM – the world’s largest property exhibition – this week.

It is the first time that the RTPI will have had the opportunity of promoting UK planners at this major annual event, which runs from 12-15 March at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

Ian Tant said: “I have a busy few days ahead with many meetings, an awards launch, and two panel discussions, including one that I am chairing – I’m really looking forward to it! No doubt there’ll be plenty of opportunities for both myself and Victoria to speak up for planning.”

During the week, Ian and Victoria are planning to attend more than 35 different events between them across a packed schedule.

Among the highlights will be the joint launch with RIBA of Future Place in the Department for International Trade pavilion on 13 March. Future Place is a two-phase initiative which will unlock place-making potential at local level through quality in design, future thinking and knowledge sharing.

On the following day, Ian will be chairing a plenary session titled ‘Infrastructure and Transforming the City’ in the main Palais.

Other engagements for Ian and Victoria during the event include meetings with representatives from Belfast and Cardiff local authorities, and they will also take the opportunity to visit as many of the RTPI’s represented regions and nations as possible.
