Two members of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) have been elected as Fellows of the prestigious Academy of Social Sciences.

Chris Tunnell and Dr Belinda Yuen were named on a list of 73 leading social scientists, distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors.

Chris is Director and Group Leader of Planning at multinational professional services firm Arup. Belinda is Professorial Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities, part of the Singapore University of Technology and Design.

RTPI President Ian Tant said: “Chris is an economist and chartered town planner who has made a significant contribution to public policy development and evaluation while Belinda is renowned for her research into urban planning and the development of Asian cities. The RTPI would like to congratulate both Chris and Belinda on achieving their Fellowships of the Academy.”

The Academy of Social Sciences said that the new Fellows were recognised after an extensive peer review process for the excellence and impact of their work through the use of social science for public benefit.
