Kieron Hyams, an Associate Director at Arup, has been elected Fellow of the Institute in recognition of his major contribution to the planning profession for the benefit of the public.
A Chartered member since 2002, Mr Hyams demonstrated impressive knowledge and leadership across a wide range of topics throughout the UK. The impact and outputs of his leadership were notable through research on planning fees and data standards.
Mr Hyams said:
“I am delighted and honoured to be elected as a Fellow of the RTPI. I have tried to show that practising professionals can lead meaningful and practical research to support those delivering planning services.
“Through my continuing service on the RTPI’s Membership and Ethics Committee, I know that RTPI Fellows help to promote the best that planning has to offer and act as ambassadors to encourage more people from a range of backgrounds to choose our profession. I will be encouraging others to apply. It also means my friends will need to put up with even more ‘proud of planning’ social media updates!”
Victoria Hills, RTPI Chief Executive, said:
“I would like to extend my congratulations, on behalf of the Institute, to Kieron. Fellowship is the highest professional membership grade available to a planner. It recognises exceptional candidates after extensive peer review for the excellence and impact of their work. It also further validates that planning is a prestigious and valued profession for which our fellows are the best ambassadors.”
