Valentine’s Day: RTPI shares the love for planning and you can too #LovePlanning

02 February 2018

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, the RTPI is running a social media campaign to remind the public and its members why it ‘loves planning’.

Creating prosperous and vibrant communities, playing its part in delivering new homes and delivering sustainable development across the globe are among the reasons it will cite over the next fortnight as to why we should all ‘love planning.’

John Acres MRTPI, RTPI President said:

"Love may touch peoples’ lives, but it’s planning which changes peoples’ lives. Planning has the power to stimulate the economy, create a better society and protect our precious environment, both here and around the world. Join me and our 25,000 colleagues in the Institute who share our passion for planning."

The Institute is encouraging its members to use the hashtag #LovePlanning and share why they love their profession on social media.

Celebrating 25,000 members

Earlier this week the Institute celebrated a major milestone – passing 25,000 members for the first time.

The RTPI – the largest professional body for town planners in the UK and Europe – represents members in over 80 countries worldwide and supports them throughout their careers.

The Institute champions the power of planning to create prosperous places and vibrant communities. It has been shaping planning policy, raising professional standards for over 100 years and is the only body in the UK to confer Chartered status to planners, the highest professional qualification.
