RTPI members have shared their expertise and interrogated the Planning Minister’s Housing White Paper for England at a series of roundtables. Hosted by the Minister and held in 10 locations across England, RTPI members ensured the Minister heard planning is a part of the solution – not the problem - to the housing crisis.
Harry Burchill, RTPI England Policy Officer said:
“Our strength as an Institute comes from our members involvement and expertise. It’s important that the Minister has heard directly from our members about how the Housing White Paper will affect the delivering of housing in every part of the country. I’m currently compiling the Institute’s formal response to the consultation and I encourage members to send through their comments to me so that we can draw on their local insight.”
Members have fed back from these meetings to the Institute and a briefing document on the roundtable discussions for members unable to attend was published today.
It contains details on:
- the house-building market
- infrastructure requirements
- land value capture
- housing delivery test
- housing need methodologies
- green belt
- private rented sector
- neighbourhood plans
- skills capacity
