Rt Hon the Lord Heseltine CH to present RTPI Nathaniel Lichfield Lecture 2013

16 September 2013

Combining formidable intellect with almost unmatched ministerial and business experience, Lord Heseltine will give the RTPI Nathaniel Lichfield Lecture 2013 on 12 November. The former Cabinet minister will address the growth agenda with respect to cities, and how pioneering city leaders can develop visions for growth.

This is a particular area of interest for the RTPI – one which we will be developing further in our Policy Futures work as part of our Centenary in 2014 – and Lord Heseltine is sure to generate a provocative discussion on the topic.

Generously supported by Dalia Lichfield, the lecture at University College London (UCL) will be followed by a short reception.

Last year's lecture was given by Mitchell Silver (Immediate Past President of the APA and Chief Planning and Economic Development Officer for Raleigh, North Carolina). In his engaging talk, Mr Silver drew on a wealth of fascinating evidence from the U.S. to illustrate how good strategic planning can add value to investment. He concluded that planners need to regain the confidence to perform their role as "guardians of the future".

Book early to avoid disappointment.
