RTPI concern at prior notification

21 April 2013

The RTPI expressed its concern about the Government's proposed 'prior notification compromise' discussed earlier this week its seventh briefing on the Growth and Infrastructure Bill.

The Institute's concerns covered:

  • Over-reliance on prior notification on a rigorous flow of information
  • The new system will be more complicated, not less
  • Net cost to local government
  • That the proposals did not address the Institute's previous concernsĀ on curtilage, the temporary period of three years, the questionable benefit to homeowners and to construction output, and the flawed impact assessment.
