Young Planner Trustee	A Member who, on the date of the Autumn Meeting of the General Assembly in any year, has no more than ten years’ post qualification experience.

GA Student/Licentiate	Student or Licentiate Member

What is the overall timeline?

The Board, General Assembly and Presidential Team

Nominations open: Monday 5 June
Nominations close : Monday 24 July
Supporters’ applications close: Tuesday 25 July
Election voting opens: Monday 21 August
Election voting closes: Monday 25 September
Results announced: Monday 2 October

Nations and English Regions

Nominations open: Monday 4 September
Nominations close: Thursday 29 September
Election voting opens: Wednesday 4 October
Election voting closes: Friday 27 October
Results announced: Week commencing Monday 6 November

Corporate Committee roles

Applications for corporate committee membership will be invited between 9 October and 13 November. Results will be announced in December.

When do the roles start?

How long is a term?

Board of Trustees, General Assembly and Vice President:

The Trustees positions are for a three-year term.
The General Assembly positions are for a two-year term.
The Vice President is a one-year term before progressing to President the following year then Immediate Past President.

Nations and Regions positions:

These vary according to the role in the Nation or Region. Most terms are two year, but some are one year. Chairs positions are usually for one year. Terms will be indicated on the nomination form.

Will volunteering for a governance or committee role in the RTPI take up a lot of my time?

Many volunteers find that they can fit in volunteering for the RTPI around their employment. For General Assembly, committees in the Nations and Regions, Corporate committees and Board of Trustees roles you will be expected to read papers, attend the meetings and participate in the discussions. The Role Descriptions provide further information about the number of meetings and committee membership for each position.

Many employers are very supportive and encourage staff to take up governance roles because they bring so many opportunities for personal and professional development. How do I nominate myself or a colleague?

How many supporters do I need for my nomination?

For positions in RTPI Nations and Regions:

Two supporters are required.

For positions on the Presidential Team, General Assembly and Board of Trustees:

The number of supporters and their type of membership depends on the position.
