Research & Knowledge

Research knowledge technology laptopwebResearch is essential to developing planning policy and practice. The RTPI supports and commissions a variety of projects, often in partnership with other organisations, and promote high-quality outputs.

Our members play an active role in research and knowledge development and dissemination activities by:

  • Participating in committees, networks and task groups.
  • Identifying research areas that could support practice.
  • Promoting knowledge exchange.

The RTPI Research Strategy is reviewed annually. It sets the context for research programmes that are carried out with a range of partners.

The RTPI Library and Information Service plays an integral role in our knowledge management strategy. It signposts valuable information and resources and is tailored to the needs of the whole planning community.
