The RTPI
The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is a dynamic organisation leading the way in the creation of places that work now and in the future.
We understand that, just as people develop places, places develop people. We are committed to the enhancement of our natural and human environment.
Good planning combines an awareness of the competing pressures on our built environment with an ability to manage the very real effects on our space.
Through our membership, the RTPI constantly seeks to create areas and places in which people want to live and work.
The RTPI’s work involves:
- Promoting good planning;
- Developing and shaping policy affecting the built environment;
- Consistently raising the standards of the planning profession;
- Supporting our members through continued professional development; and
- Education and training for future planners.
RTPI Trust – a way you can help other planners in need
The RTPI Trust is a registered charity, independent from the RTPI. It exists to provide support to members of RTPI and their families, who are in genuine financial hardship. This may include:
• “In kind” assistance, such as through advice and counselling services, to help a member and his/her family through a crisis.
• Financial support in the form of grants for specific items of expenditure, which are regarded as essential to support the welfare of the member and his/her family.
