Ruth Hardingham

Ruth is a Chartered Town Planer with a Masters in Regional and Town Planning from Leeds Metropolitan University. Ruth began her planning career as a Planning Policy Officer at the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly. In this role Ruth prepared and coordinated responses on strategic planning applications and Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) and also contributed towards the preparation of planning policy, strategy development and generating spatial policy options for new housing through the appraisal of broad areas of potential growth for the Partial Review of the RSS which was taken forward into developing the evidence base of the Integrated Regional Strategy.

Following the removal of the regional planning tier Ruth was seconded to work on the delivery of the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Change Skills Fund (CCSF). Ruth is responsible for the day-to-day management of the CCSF programme which aims to enhance the skills and knowledge that planning officers and elected Members with planning responsibilities need to deal with climate change mitigation and adaptation in their day to day work. Ruth has project managed five specific areas of work including; a training programme for local authority planning officers, three local authority Low Carbon and Renewable Energy studies, a planning technical support service, a training programme for elected Members and the roll out of a carbon calculating software package for developers to produce Energy Statements that comply with local planning policy requirements.
