Andy Haigh
Andy has been a chartered town planner for over 25 years. He spent a large part of his career at Bradford MDC, rising from Planning Officer to Group Planning Manager, Development Plan & Policy. During that time he led the staff through the completion of the first UDP and a review of that UDP. He moved to the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly in Sept 2004 where he took a lead on policy for the Leeds City Region and region wide housing policy, making a significant contribution to the preparation of the RSS. He continued to lead on these two policy areas in the RSS update and the early work on the Integrated Regional Strategy and to contribute to national work on housing policy. Following the general election he was seconded to the Leeds City Region Secretariat where he is involved in Strategy Development, the Regional Growth Fund, relations with the third sector and developing collaboration on spatial planning across the partnership area.
Andy has been an active member of the RTPI for a number of years. Taking the role of RTPI representative on the LMU Partnership Board in 2008 he became vice chair of the Yorkshire Region in early 2011, taking the chair’s role in 2012.
