Planning Inspectorate
RTPI South West Regional Activities Committee

I started my planning career in North Shropshire District Council as an Assistant Planning Officer before it became the Shropshire Council Unitary Authority. After being in post for two years I took the opportunity to move to Bristol as a Planning Officer in the Planning Inspectorate, producing Scoping Reports for Local Plan Documents for Inspectors and undertaking bespoke tasks for Government. Due to a restructure I moved to the Infrastructure Planning Commission as a Case Manager and followed the Organisation back into the Planning Inspectorate. As a Case Manager, I was involved in over 10 Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs); from pre-application to decision including Hinkley Point C, Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon and four Offshore Windfarms. Most recently I have moved to the Environmental Services Team in the Planning Inspectorate; reviewing Environmental Statements submitted with appeals, screening for Transboundary Effects on NSIPs and providing Scoping Opinions on NSIPs as well as pre-application advice to Applicants. I have, this year gained my RTPI and am enjoying bringing my planning experience to the role. For 6 years I was a member of the Young Planners' South West Steering Group and assisted in delivering the Young Planners' Conference in Bristol. For the last two years I was vice chair before stepping down from that role in June 2017 and taking up a position on the Regional Activities Committee as a liaison between the RAC and Young Planners' Group.
