James is a Principal Planner within the Bristol and Exeter offices of Mott MacDonald and works across the UK.  James has managed the submission of planning application material for a diverse range of development projects (including nuclear, water, commercial/industrial, railways, civils engineering, utilities, major infrastructure, mixed use schemes and renewable energy).  James has also been seconded into a number of Local Planning Authorities to provide specialist Development Management support.

James spent five years working on the Hinkley Point C project for the construction of a new nuclear power station in Somerset. Of particular note, James was the shadow case officer for the site preparation work planning application between 2010-2012, prior to the submission of a Development Consent Order (DCO).

James has been a member of the Regional Activities Committee since 2013 after originally being a member between 2007-2011. He was also actively involved in the South West Young Planners Network between 2007-2011 and was the South West representative on the National Young Planners Network. He is currently the Regional Workplaces Officer.
