George Marshall

George Marshall
RTPI South West Regional Activites Committee

George is Principal Planning Officer at Devon County Council. His main role is to lead the County Council's input into the Local Plan preparation and site delivery to ensure that infrastructure which the County Council is responsible for, particularly transport and education, is planned for, funded and delivered in an appropriate way to deliver sustainable communities. He is involved in detailed discussions with Local Planning Authorities on plan-making, master-planning and CIL, together with the negotiation of planning obligations with developers. More recently George has become increasingly involved in wider strategic planning matters looking at sub-regional demographics and growth strategy in the wider Exeter and Plymouth areas. Previously George led the County Council's preparation of the Waste Plan and also worked in transport planning.

George joined the RTPI SW RAC in 2012 and has enjoyed the wider planning debates and networking which the role allows.

Outside of work George spends his time with his young family, enjoying Devon's landscape and coast and playing cricket.
