Dominic Crowley (Chair) 

Dom Crowley

Dominic joined Lichfields' Newcastle office as a Planner in April 2016 following previous experience as a Planning Consultant in Manchester. He studied Planning at The University of Manchester and proceeded to work in a fast environment, assuring the highest quality of advice across a spectrum of planning matters. Dominic now spends the majority of his time working on housing, student accommodation and design projects.

Dominic's experience covers planning appraisals, the submission of planning and reserved matters applications (including the preparation of accompanying planning statements), public consultation, preparation of planning appeals and the submission of Development Plan Representations. Dominic has led on a number of major residential schemes across the North East and is also a member of Lichfields' Law and Policy Expert Group.

Dominic joined Lichfields as a Planning Consultant in 2013 and advises land owners, developers and operators in a number of industries.  He provides a range of planning services, including the preparation and submission of planning applications, local plan representations and community/ stakeholder engagement.  

Dominic is predominantly involved in housing, retail development, employment/ industrial schemes and heritage projects. Dominic is a chartered member of the RTPI and an affiliate member of the IHBC.

Nick McLennan

Nick McLellan (Vice Chair)

Nick is the Strategic Planner for Story Homes (North East) and is responsible for strategic land acquisition and promotion throughout the region. This involves working alongside landowners, agents and Local Authorities to identify sustainable sites for residential development and to implement effective planning strategies to achieve residential allocations within Local Plans which ultimately deliver high quality housing schemes.

Nick has worked in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining Story Homes, he was Graduate Planner at Signet Planning and worked on a range of residential, commercial and retail development projects. Other roles have included Assistant Planning Policy Officer for Gateshead Council and Planning Assistant within Northumbrian Water Ltd's New Development team. Nick has a degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Town Planning from Newcastle University and is currently working towards a Masters in Planning and Regeneration.

Jenny NyeJenny Nye  

Jennifer is a Senior Planner and joined Lichfields in 2012, has considerable Planning Policy and Development Management experience throughout the north east. She has extensive experience in promoting potential housing sites though the Local Plan process; preparing and submitting planning applications for mixed-use developments of varying scales; under taking community consultation; multi-disciplinary working with co-consultants; and undertaking Planning Inquiries. 

Prior to joining NLP Jennifer worked as a Planning and Housing Officer at the North East Assembly where she researched and authored chapters of the Regional Spatial Strategy Annual Monitoring Reports, Implementation Plan and Compendium of North East Population and housing data and authored reports on relevant regional and national issues for the North East Housing Regeneration Board and sub groups.

Dominic SmithDominic Smith  

Dominic joined Lichfields in 2014 after working at Persimmon Homes and Ryedale District Council. He has experience of delivering major residential projects, in particular the strategic promotion of over 2,000 homes in Cramlington, Northumberland. During this time he also was responsible for project managing a residential scheme in Wallsend, North Tyneside from application preparation through to securing permission for 650 homes at Public Inquiry.

Since joining NLP, Dominic has worked on a variety of projects across the north-east and further afield in Scotland, Oxford and Bath.

Amy Ward

Amy WardPrior to joining BDW Amy worked as a policy officer for the North East Chamber of Commerce advising on planning policy, organising planning updates with key businesses and writing press releases on key planning issues. She campaigned for changes to planning rules that would boost the economy of the North East of England. Amy is working towards becoming a Chartered Member of the RTPI. She has a degree in Town Planning from Newcastle University and a diploma in Town Planning. She completed her placement at Government Office for the North East.

Alastair Welch

Alastair Welch _editAlastair joined the Natural England (NE) marine planning team in September 2015 as a Lead Adviser and is responsible for responding to development management, development plan and marine licencing casework along the coast. As part of NE's role as a statutory consultee, he works successfully with a variety of stakeholders to provide advice on measures to avoid and mitigate for impacts on protected areas and species, to be secured through the planning system. He previously worked for the NE terrestrial planning team and for the planning team at the Environment Agency. He has lead on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, and is a member of NE's Air Quality, Ports, Humber and Marine Casework networks. Alastair is working towards becoming a Chartered Member of the RTPI.

Kayleigh Dixon

Kayleigh Dixon is a Senior Planner at DPP who joined in 2012.  Kayleigh is responsible for project management of planning applications through to decision, promotion of sites through the Local Plan process, public consultation and aftercare work.  Kayleigh has broad experience across a range of development sectors including commercial/mixed use, retail and residential.

Kayleigh has worked in both the public and private sector, having worked at Northumberland County Council's Development Management department as an Assistant Planner prior to joining DPP.  Kayleigh has a BA Hons and Diploma in Town Planning from Newcastle University and has been a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 2014.

Jill Lomax

Jill LomaxJill is a Development Planner at the Banks Group where she works across the property and renewable energy divisions of the business. She has experience writing planning applications, promoting sites through the local plan process and managing planning commitments for construction and operation phase onshore wind projects. Her role involves preparing planning strategies and engaging with local authorities, stakeholders and communities to deliver high quality development. Prior to joining Banks in 2014 Jill worked in the planning team at Natural England where she provided consultee advice on development management casework across the North East.

Oonagh Cranley

Oonagh is a Senior Planner & Heritage Consultant at Lichfields. She joined the Newcastle Office in 2013 having previously worked for an Architectural Practice in Glasgow and the Scottish Government in Edinburgh during which she was part of the Organising Committee for the RTPI West of Scotland Chapter.

Since joining Lichfields, Oonagh has progressed housing, commercial and healthcare projects with a particular focus on heritage schemes. She helps private and public sector clients to deliver development proposals in sensitive historic environments. Her experience ranges from large-scale redevelopment and urban extensions to small-scale conversions. Oonagh is able to bring both planning and heritage expertise to a project. She manages planning applications and listed building consents and is responsible for the preparation of Planning and Design and Access Statements, Heritage Impact Assessments and Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments.
