Liz Donaldson

Liz DonaldsonLiz Donaldson joined Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council’s Planning Unit in September 2000, bringing with her a legal background in conveyancing, probate and litigation.

For the first two years Liz worked as an administrative assistant where she received a good grounding in planning procedures. When the post of technical officer became vacant she was the successful applicant and spent the next three years making sure all the applications received were validated and registered correctly. Liz was also responsible for the monthly committee presentation of applications and the administration of all the planning appeals, including the Retail Inquiry held in Berwick.

In 2007 the enforcement post became available and again this gave her a great opportunity to further her knowledge and experience in the planning system.

Following Local Government Review in 2009, Liz joined Northumberland County Council as the Monitoring and Enforcement Officer for the north (Berwick) area, where she continues to work enforcing against various types of planning regulation breaches including unauthorised development, changes of use, illegal advertisements, untidy land and the monitoring of developments which have the benefit of planning permission.
