Ex Officio (RTPI North East Chairman 2006)
I have been involved with the RTPI in the North East for approximately 10 years, initially just as a "back-bench" committee member then spent three years as Honorary Secretary. I then had a very enjoyable ascendancy to the Position of RTPI North East Chairman last year, allowing me the opportunity to see the vast range of good work that is going on in the profession. I currently work for South Tyneside Council as acting Planning and Housing Futures Manager, which involves Managing the preparation of the Council's Local Development Framework (we were the 6th Nationally and first in the region to secure a "Sound" Rating for our Core Strategy); managing the Council's Strategic Housing Function, a number of Housing Renewal Schemes and overseeing the Council's urban design and countryside functions.
