Chris is the Regional Member and Public Relations Officer and chairs the Member and Public Relations Group. As part of his work for the group he organises the annual Regional Awards Scheme and assists in the collection of content for the Regional Newsletter, North East News. He was awarded the RTPI’s Outstanding Service Award in 2010.
Chris retired from his post as Regeneration Manager at South TynesideCouncil in 2007; previously he had worked for the old Department of the Environment and for Surrey County Council. He is married to Fiona, and they have three children and five grandchildren, the latter being based in Geneva and Norfolk, both of which are pleasant places to visit!
Since retiring from paid employment Chris has become even more heavily involved in his local community, where he is Company Secretary of Jesmond Community Leisure, an award-winning social enterprise which has been running Jesmond Pool for 20 years and has recently entered into a partnership with the City Council to help run Jesmond Library.
