RTPI South West promotes planning as a profession and builds links with other built environment professions and organisations throughout the South West. We offer members a programme of affordable seminars and events to assist with their continuing professional development requirements, and also publish a regular newsletter for member
More than 2,000 planners from central, regional and local government, private consultancies, the education sector and other organisations are members of RTPI South West. We welcome the views and opinions of all our members, and we are always looking for volunteers to help with running our programmes.

Tiverton Pannier Market Enhancement Scheme
Submitted by Mid Devon District Council - Best entry in "Planning on the Ground" category and overall winner of the Philip Barclay Silver Cup. A award ceremony was held on 3rd March 2008 at Tiverton Town Hall with all entries and winners in attendance. Young Planners Network - Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) Process for Young Planners - Thursday 20th November 2008 - 2R001 (R block Main Studio), University of the West of England. See attached flier for further information.
Planning for Play - Delivering Child-Friendly Environments - 3rd December 2008 - Oxstall Campus, University of Gloucester - This is a one day, interactive joint event with RTPI West Midlands, the University of Gloucestershire and CABE. During the day, in addition to presentations, there will be an outdoor interactive session, visits to sites in Gloucester and designing for play surgeries providing an opportunity for participants to get advice on 'live' projects or planning applications. Retail Planning - 5th December 2008 - The Thistle Hotel, Bristol - Discussions of emerging best practice in considering retail development, the driver from developers, the needs test, retail’s role in regeneration and issues of how to achieve a genuine mix of uses.
