RTPI North West
RTPI North West promotes planning as a profession and builds links with other built environment professions and organisations throughout the North West. We offer members a programme of affordable seminars and events to assist with their continuing professional development requirements, and also publish a regular newsletter for members.
Over 2,200 planners from central, regional and local government, private consultancies, the education sector and other organisations are members of RTPI North West. We welcome the views and opinions of all our members, and we are always looking for volunteers to help with running our programmes.

North West Annual Dinner 2010
ADVANCE NOTICE: The 2010 Annual Dinner is breaking with tradition this year and being held at the prestigious Lowry Hotel, Salford on 1st October. Dr. Kevin Jones, Consultant Physician, will entertain after dinner with an hilarious line in hospital humour. £60 per person or £550 for a table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities available. RTPI North West Golf Day 2010
The inaugural North West RTPI Golf Day took place on Friday the 18th June 2010 at Mottram Hall.
Highest score on the day was Richard Mawdsley from NJL Consulting with 38. Longest drive was Malcolm Walker from Peacock & Smith and nearest the pin was Neil Lewin from Steven Abbott Assocs LLP.
Lowest score with 12 was Gareth Glennon from Peacock & Smith.
The event was kindly sponsored by Steven Abbott Associates LLP.
The next North West RTPI Golf Day is scheduled to take place on Friday 17th June 2011. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Bev Watson.
Presidents Visit & Leaders Awards 2009
Richard Knight of Turley Associates (RTPI NW’s Today’s Leader) and Lindsay Whitley of Salford City Council (RTPI NW’s Tomorrow’s Leader) received their award certificates and a bottle of bubbly from RTPI President Martin Willey during his 2009 visit to the North West Region. Congratulations to them both!
Five-a-Side Football Tournament
The last annual Five-a-Side football event took place on Saturday 22nd May 2010 at Bolton Arena, Lostock. The event was sponsored by WYG. It was won by Aecom, who also won last year. Warrington BC were runners up.
Congratulations to all the players and many thanks to our sponsors.
Details of the next event will be announced shortly. The competition is open to squads of up to 7 players and includes a buffet lunch. Any expressions of interest should be directed to Bev Watson. A flyer and booking form will be made available shortly.
Promotion - Young Planners
The North West Young Planners (NWYP) would like to ask for your help this month in promoting the Young Planners. We have some 1,400 planners in the north west region and we would like to encourage as many to join the NWYP distribution lists as possible. If you want to volunteer or are interested in attending events please contact Greg Dickson. The more people we have attending events, the easier it is to get sponsorship.
North West Planning Aid
The latest newsletter for the NW Planning Aid, the January 2010 issue of 'Snapshot' has been published and can be downloaded here. This is a newsletter for staff, volunteers, friends, partners… indeed anyone interested in their work and activities!
This spring edition includes news on our 2010 volunteer training programme and activities on our Community Programme. We hope you enjoy this issue and welcome any comments or ideas for future features and articles!
