New Chair for RTPI North East
Joe Ridgeon is the 2012 Chair of RTPI NE, having been elected at the Annual Meeting in December 2011. Joe, a Planning Consultant at the Wolsingham office of George F White LLP, completed his Masters Degree in Town Planning at Newcastle University in 2007.
At the Annual Meeting Joe introduced himself as the only person to have used a Young Person’s Rail Card to attend the recent meeting of incoming Regional Chairs with the RTPI President. He also gave as his themes for 2012, Rural Planning, Working with Other Professions, the Olympics, and Leading the Charge of planners explaining to all who will listen that planning is part of the solution, not part of the problem.
RTPI NE Host 1st Ever Golf Tournament
The Region's first ever golf tournament will take place on the 22nd June at Durham City Golf Course. Join us for what is expected to be a great day out, prizes have been donated by regional organisations. RTPI North East 2012 Awards Scheme.
The Royal Town Planning Institute North East Region is pleased to announce the launch of its 2012 Regional Awards for Planning Achievement. All types of planning work are eligible for an award, and entries can be submitted either by the organisation responsible for the work concerned, or by someone else. It is FREE to enter for an award, and entries can be submitted electronically. Entry form and judging criteria is available here.

Newcastle University Student to Chair the RTPI North East Young Planners’ Group
Town Planning student, Lorna Heslop has been appointed Chair of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) North East Young Planners’ Steering Group. At only 20, she acts as a voice of the younger generation in order to improve employment opportunities for young planners. Read the press release here.
