RTPI Cymru's Manifesto for Planning

RTPI Cymru published its Manifesto for Planning: Shaping the Future of Wales earlier in 2011. The Manifesto sets out 10 recommendations that will improve planning in Wales. It is designed to influence policy makers and public debate in the run up to the National Assembly for Wales’ elections in May, and reinforces RTPI Cymru’s commitment to working with the next Assembly Government to positively promote a planning system which works for the public good, balancing economic, social and environmental interests to establish and maintain community wellbeing.

Wales Employment Survey

Thank you to every one that took part in the Wales Employment Survey 2010. The report of the survey results is available to download from the Planners in the Workplace webpages, which also has information and support for both planners who are working and those seeking support to find employment.

The survey gathered data to help better understand how the recession and the reduction in public sector spending will affect recruitment, retention and CPD provision across the sector.

The Survey results have been shared with the RTPI’s Planners in the Workplace Manager (PIWP) and the Education and Life Long Learning Officer to help the RTPI:

  • Work with universities to better support graduates entering the job market;
  • Improve support and guidance for RTPI members facing redundancy; and
  • Identify challenges for employers when planning CPD, and identify good practice.
