Planning Aid for Scotland
Planning Aid for Scotland (PAS) is a unique, independent and award-winning charity that helps people shape their communities by engaging with the planning system. It is the leading voice on community engagement in planning, being seen as professional, trusted, impartial and effective.
PAS was established in 1993 to provide people with free and impartial advice, information and support. It does this through training and information events, its free advice service, media coverage and public affairs. It is a national, Scottish charity and a company limited by guarantee.
Its advisory and training work is through a unique network of around 250 volunteers, all planning professionals, who provide their time and specialist knowledge. They are supported by 11 paid staff, based in South Charlotte Street, just off Charlotte Square in Edinburgh.
It works in close partnership with other organisations, including the Scottish Government, COSLA, A&DS, local authorities, CBI Scotland, the Sustainable Development Commission, Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) in Scotland and SCVO, among others.
It operates a popular Friends scheme to support our work as well as Corporate Membership. You can donate at any time or you can support its Education Fund.
