Planning Aid London

Since 1973, PAL has been providing town planning advice in the Greater London area. Our advice and support can help individuals and groups to:

  • Take part in preparing policy plans
  • Put together their own plans for their communities
  • Make comments on planning applications
  • Apply for planning permission
  • Appeal against a refusal of planning permission
  • Appear with confidence at planning committees and public inquiries

PAL also runs a small affordable consultancy service, dealing with a range of planning and enforcement cases, for those who are not eligible for the free service. PALs clients are typically small businesses and householders.

PAL also works with communities all over London, delivering training, outreach and consultation projects.

The service is delivered through 12 in house staff including 5 qualified planners and over 100 volunteers. PAL is a registered charity (No. 802943) and company limited by guarantee (No. 2081763).

PAL's work is guided by a Management Committee which meets 6 times a year to give overall direction to the organisation. The Town & Country Planning Association and the London Branch of the Royal Town Planning Institute each nominate Management Committee members, and additional members are voted in annually at PALs AGM.

PAL's funders currently include Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), London Councils, Awards for All, EU Interreg IIIB and a number of Local Authorities through project sponsorship.
