National Association for Planning Enforcement

                                       NAPE Logo

Planning enforcement plays an essential part in the formulation and implementation of planning legislation. It is an important and distinct function within the planning process and those employed in the field require unique skills, competencies and attributes to ensure the effective and successful resolution of the many issues it encompasses.

The purpose of the National Association for Planning Enforcement (NAPE) is to promote and enhance the role of planning enforcement within the planning profession.

We work on a national, regional and local level to share good practice and encourage professional development. With the RTPI, we develop career paths and options for continuing professional development and professional qualifications for all staff working in planning enforcement.

NAPE's Vision

We will Negotiate, Advise, Protect – and only then, fittingly last, Enforce.

Read NAPE's Vision and let us know what you think. Do you agree? Does it inspire you?

NAPE’s forward thinking vision sets realistic objectives to support and promote Enforcement Professionals.  Its guiding principles of “Negotiate, Advise, Protect and Enforce” represent the tools used to provide an effective and efficient Planning Enforcement & Compliance function.

By seeking to create and improve legislation and policy; by providing opportunity for career development and training for its members; and identifying and promoting the value of compliance & enforcement in decision making, NAPEs key objectives along with its guiding principles, will provide a platform from which the national voice of Planning Enforcement can be heard.
