A member may transfer to the Retired Members Class if the following conditions are met. The member:
- has completely retired from all work including planning
- no longer receives payment for any planning work
- is not a student or licentiate
The annual subscription rate is currently £50.00. However, the member can elect to pay £740.00 for life membership and be exempt from paying a future subscription while they remain a Retired Member.
No member is automatically transferred to retired membership; an application form has to be completed to apply for transfer. Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis.
The Retired Member may revert back to their previous class of membership on application and their subscription will be adjusted accordingly. When the member transfers back into the Retired Class, they will revert to the same subscription terms as before, e.g. if a life member then they will be exempt.
The Retired Member subscription will calculated from the date the application is reviewed, not from when the member actually retired. This means that a revised subscription greater than £50 could be payable in the year of transfer as there may be paying a higher fee for the first part of the year.
Life members should also be aware that they may still be required to pay a subscription amount in the year of transfer if the transfer takes place part way throught the year.
