Technical membership allows people who make a major contribution to planning to become members of the RTPI and should then allow them if they want to do so to go on and study for chartered membership."
Dave joined Stockport Council as a Planning Enforcement Officer in 1999 and has been the Senior Enforcement Officer since 2003. Prior to this he had been a Police Officer until an injury sustained on duty forced his early retirement.
Whilst his investigative skills came in handy a steep learning curve in planning was required. Luckily Stockport funded Dave to gain the Certificate in Planning Enforcement Studies from the University of Cambridge and supported him in being elected to Technical Membership.
Dave is the lead officer for all Planning Enforcement matters at Stockport and has presented evidence on behalf of the Council at Public Enquires, The Magistrates & Crown Court & Injunctive Hearings. Dave also deals with Lawful Development Certificates and Planning Applications.
Dave is the current Chair of the National Association for Planning Enforcement (NAPE) and secretary of the Greater Manchester Enforcement Form. He has also previously served as a Technical Member on the General Assembly.
