Achievements in research

During 2012, we have conducted a comprehensive review of our Research activities and are now preparing to take this forward, with a re-focusing of our programme under the Head of Policy and Practice.

So far in 2012, our Research team has sent 17 PERN and ESPON bulletins to a total of around 850 members. Over the last year, we’ve held the RTPI-Nathaniel Lichfield Annual Lecture, delivered by Professor Patsy Healy, and two ESPON events with a total audience of almost 300 people. Two more ESPON events are coming up this year in Cardiff and Newcastle, plus the 2012 RTPI-Nathaniel Lichfield Annual Lecture.

The RTPI continues to support the Planning Theory and Practice journal, which aims to disseminate research findings to planners working in practice. The journal's Interface section promotes dialogue between the academic and practitioner communities and a number of issues are available for free download. RTPI members save over £100 per year on subscriptions to this internationally regarded research journal, which can count towards CPD.
