Following the launch of the new RTPI website, what were called the “Planners in the Workplace” pages have been re-designed with new content, making it much easier for members to access benefits and support online.
As well as responding to a 20% increase in enquiries from planning graduates, we have called upon employers of all sizes to offer graduates work experience, which is vital if we are to avoid a shortage of experienced planners in the future.
This was in addition to the support already available to graduates, such as access to planning jobs through RTPI Jobs, free membership of RTPI Networks, and individual advice.
The RTPI has also become more active in using social media, and this increase in enquiries is likely to be partly due to the increased use of sites such as LinkedIn and Twitter for networking and job searches.
A random sample of 154 members who used our support services described them as:
- Very good 63.6%
- Good 31.8%
- Average 3.2%
- Poor 0%
- Very poor 1.3%

"I would like to congratulate you on a really useful resource in the shape of the guidance on workplace and practice issues." - James Carpenter MRTPI
"Having been a public sector planner for a decade and an RTPI member of 6 years, I recently decided to set up a consultancy. The help, advice, support and direction given by the service is worth much more than the membership fee!” - Peter Cornfield MRTPI
