Information and advice

  • The RTPI is a knowledge-generating and knowledge-sharing organisation with a wealth of professional knowledge and experience Planners in the Workplace (PIWP) is able to provide a unique personal support service helping RTPI members problem solve issues in the workplace. Supported by RTPI good practice guides, and drawing on the experience of a network of RTPI members – a ‘Planning Aid for Planners’ - we can offer support and information on issues as diverse as starting in private practice, relationships with elected members, professional conduct, conflicts of interest, client care and job evaluation. The service includes a 24-hour confidential employment law helpline.
  • We produce a wide range of management information guides, in partnership with BHP Information Solutions, that provide useful guidance on many aspects of running small and medium-sized businesses or larger public sector organisations.
  • Planning magazine is the journal of the RTPI and the leading publication for the planning profession. As well as news and information, each issue contains RTPI News pages and essential job advertisements
  • We provide a library and information service for members.
  • The RTPI produces publications on a wide range of topics related to planning. Our publications provide good practice advice, outline key RTPI  policy positions and research reports.
  • Nations and Regions also provide an essential local and national perspective, promoting member activity, professional development, knowledge sharing, deliver member services and help raise the profile of the planning profession.
