Our viewpoint

Social infrastructure includes community facilities such as schools, libraries, health facilities, cultural and religious facilities as well as parks, open spaces and recreation areas. Ensuring that local infrastructure is adequate to meet the needs of an expanding or shrinking population is a major challenge for local authorities and the providers of infrastructure. We believe that the development planning process is a means of adequately assessing the location and impact of new social infrastructure, whilst allowing communities their democratic right to comment on all material planning matters.
