West Midlands Waste Plan found sound. The Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Joint Waste Local Plan has been found to safeguard existing waste management sites and to set out the types of locations where new facilities could be located.
MPA calls for accelerated delivery of outstanding infrastructure projects as sales confirm significant fall in construction output in 2012. A 9% reduction in aggregates, cement and ready mixed concrete and an 18% reduction in asphaltsales have been reported by the industry. 2012 was the lowest year for aggregates and concrete since 1965.

Practice

WRAP updates its Good Practice Guide: Using PAS 100 compost in landscape and regeneration projects. The guide aims to provide good practice advice on the use of PAS 100 compost in landscaping and regeneration applications and, including for brownfield restoration and habitat establishment and green roofs.

Our viewpoint

Minerals and waste planning is a statutory duty. Mineral Planning Authorities must prepare a Minerals and Waste Local Development Framework and exercise their duties of development management. We support the sustainable management of minerals and minimisation of waste and encourage authorities to permit sites in the most acceptable locations, ensuring they are worked, operated and, where relevant, reclaimed to high environmental standards.
